If you're still having trouble, check out. You can also search near a city, place, or address instead. When we first moved across the street from this plaza a year ago, i said 'all we need is a sushi joint, a bar with good brews and an ice cream parlor.' Now, we have all three. This place has a nice vibe and good products. My kids enjoyed the ice cream and brownies and I enjoyed watching them. Prices reasonable for this area.
I admire the fact some exotic coffees are also available and I'll be back soon to try them. Best of all, for a town that shuts down around 9pm, these guys stay open until 10. Bring the family.
This is the kid that copied off of The Baked Bear in class, but couldn't get a read on all the answers. Same concept combining cookies and ice cream to make dessert sandwiches only it's nowhere near as good as the kid it copied off of.
There's less flavors for both cookies and ice cream, and overall was just a less desirable treat at the end of the day. The kid behind the counter was nice enough, but he was solo and clearly had a couple other projects on his hands. An ice cream sandwich is never a bad idea, but if you can wait 10 minutes I'd recommend opting for the smart kid up the street in Carmel Valley. We would not have found this ice cream store without the power of Yelp. What a great and unexpected find! We were in the area when the family had a sudden craving for ice cream. Being the cool parents we are (we were, of course, the ones craving it), we quickly got on Yelp and noticed Crave nearby and decided to give it a try.
It was 3 PM on a Saturday afternoon and it seemed like the perfect time to come. We were immediately greeted and welcomed into the store by those working.
There were several groups of people in the store but they had already been helped so we were able to go up and down the case to decide which flavor(s) we wanted. After sampling a few, we decided on a scoop of each; Praline Pecan (caramel ice cream w/ candied pralines) and Thatch Roof Sundae (vanilla ice cream with swirls of chocolate fudge and chocolate almonds) for the hubby and me to share. The little one chose strawberry with a waffle cone dipped in chocolate and covered in sprinkles.
All of us loved our selections. The ice cream was so creamy and full of great flavors. I especially enjoyed the crunch from the pecans and the chocolate almonds) found in the two flavors my hubby and I selected.
While all chosen flavors were delicious, our favorite just happened to be what my 2-year-old chose.the strawberry! What can I say, she has good taste. You should prepare to either bring a drink or buy one here. The ice cream is very rich so it will leave your thirsty after you polish off your yummy treats. We really enjoyed our visit here over the weekend and I have a sneaky suspicion we will be back.
When we left, there was a line practically out the door so I'm glad we 1). Aren't the only ones who ruined their dinner with dessert and 2). We beat the crowds. We stopped by after work since it was really close. SERVICE - The girl helping us was really nice. She let us sample some flavors before we decided on what we wanted. FOOD Blueberry Cheesecake - You can really taste the blueberry in this but not so much the cheesecake.
Hana Road - This was okay. The chocolate tasted mild to me. Hawaiian Salted Caramel - The flavor was good and we really liked the caramel swirls throughout the ice cream. Toffee Snickerdoodle - This was good because the cookie was soft. I am all for soft cookies! You don't really taste the toffee too much. Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip - It was a soft cookie so a plus.
There was just too much going on in this cookie for my liking. There was caramel throughout along with chocolate chips. The top was sprinkled with salt crystals.
I couldn't really get a grasp on a flavor. Overall, the cookies are larger than Baked Bear. They are soft but nothing spectacular. The ice cream was a left down due to the iciness and lack of flavor.
It wasn't heavy with ice chunks but more so micro pieces of ice to where the ice cream was crunchy. We would probably choose to drive to the next shopping center to get Baked Bear instead. I've read, seen, heard about Crave when I've visited the Beachside Del Mar shopping center. We recently visited after lunch at Bushfire Kitchen over the weekend and had a fun experience.
They carry Lappert's Ice Cream which surprised me. I thought, for some reason, Crave carried their own brand but no biggie as Lappert is a respectable and well liked ice cream. There is quite a bit to choose from in regards to how you want your ice cream served. You can have it in scoop form, in a sundae, ice cream sandwich, waffle bowl, waffle cone, on a warm skillet cookie. The young staff was friendly and our initial girl was super kind. She offered samples of a few of the ice cream. We opted for the skillet cookie option which comes with one scoop of ice cream, one dry topping, one sauce, whip cream, and a cherry.
We had a vanilla ice cream that had chocolate almonds and chocolate swirls (something like that). The skillet cookie isn't too big - kinda like a mini Pizookie at BJ's. The ice cream scoop wasn't huge but was good enough for the $5.50+ price tag. The ice cream tasted fine and the cookie tasted warm, crispy, and yummy. It was enough for two adults to share after a light lunch nearby. I'd return to try another item if I was in the area.
The passionfruit sorbet sample was divine so I'd order that in a heartbeat the next time. Just an average ice cream place to get a scoop, cone, sundae, or shake.
Big Bear Ice Cream Sandwich
They use Lappert's ice cream, which can be a draw, but the ice cream does not stand out from the rest. There are a lot of flavors to choose though. I got a cookie sandwich.a scoop of butter pecan with a macadamia cookie and a sugar almond cookie.
They place it in a bowl instead of something to hold it in to eat it like a sandwich, so I basically ate it like it was a sundae. The cookies are alright, freshly baked in the oven that day. The ice cream is soft and sweet, and will melt quickly. Overall, I think it's fine here for something quick. Decided to come and check this place out after a nice hike at Torrey pines. We ordered root beer floats and the Cookie Monster cookie shake.
Both were very tasty. I would recommend not getting in line when you first arrive so that you can stand back and look at their extensive menu, it can be a little overwhelming.
They have everything from shakes to a cookie sandwich. Their flavors are very unique as well. Everything is very sweet so keep that in mind when you are ordering your dessert, it is very easy to get out of control with all their fun add on's. If you are looking for it in the shopping center it is to the right of Vons grocery store. This place is fine.
The cookies and the ice cream definitely aren't artisanal but they get the job done and the kids sufficiently high on sugar. Where this place goes down hill is in the details. They'll gladly take your money for a borderline overpriced ice cream sandwich but they won't give you a cup of water to wash it down with. You need to either bring your own or buy a bottle of water. I mean, come on.
It doesn't get any cheaper than that. Even the employee I spoke with thought the policy was ridiculous. Secondly, this place has floor to ceiling windows and no shades. So, if you're there in the early evening, you leave temporarily blinded by the sun. My advice: bring your own water, sunglasses and a visor should you decide to come here.
Or, better yet, find another dessert shop. It's nice to have an ice cream shop so close to Del Mar Hills and it will be a great spot once the weather gets warmer.
I'm giving it three stars because there isn't anything about it that makes this place standout from a 31 Flavors. I ordered a combo ice cream sandwich which allowed me to try a brownie and a cookie. For the ice cream I chose Cinnamon Vanilla. I think it was called Cinnamon Vanilla. It definitely had cinnamon and it paired well with the brownie and cookie. I did not like that the sandwich is served in a cup. It makes it very hard to eat as a sandwich.
Also, the brownie and cookie did not taste homemade. Next time I would just stick with ice cream. There is a fundamental flaw with these ice cream sandwich places. The sandwiches need to be served cold and packed with ice cream.
Having it made on the spot does not work. It's not as satisfying as an ice cream sandwich you can buy from the store.
Polar Bear Ice Cream Sandwich
I visited this cool little place about three weeks ago. I walked in and was instantly hugged by the sweet smell of fresh baked cookies.
I was impressed by how clean the establishment was. No icky sticky on the tables. No spills on the floor. And the glass separating the customers from the goods was fingerprint and splatter free (mostly).
The place had been open for awhile and we arrived close to 9pm. So, we were happy to see it still busy. The little one ordered a strawberry ice cream turned upside down into a bowl.
The friend ordered a root beer float. I order the most amazing milk shake ever! It was made with ice cream that had this really cool Hawaiian name (can't remember, sorry!) There was dark chocolate, macadamia nuts, and much more! I added a brownie to it.
Great texture! To top it off it was topped with fresh whipped cream! We sat-in to enjoy our cold treats. The atmosphere was nice. They had music in the background and the little one wanted to dance. So we danced in the corner and it was nice.
This is definitely the best place for a cheat day.
Improvius wrote: I'm not talking about a launcher but really the big widget that lenovo put. The one that allows you to go straight to mail, watch, listen and read. That is a launcher. The Lenovo one is a particularly crappy one, too, as it does not allow for much customization. This is not to be confused with the white speech balloon icon in the centre of the bottom bar that's intended to launch your choice of Social Media apps.
I believe that this is built into the Lenovo customization, and can't appear in any non-Lenovo installation (without some serious hacking). The big lotus-flower thing that takes up most of a screen, is customizable for colour and transparency, and launches apps for Mail, Watch, Listen and Read (and Browser in the center) really is a widget. I know this because I deleted mine, but it still shows up in the drawer with all the other widgets. What I don't know is if there is a way to backup and restore widgets.
Starting with Draining of the device Batteries - Google programmers is anything else but not 'old generation' programmers and because of that they just could not understand many things, but one of them is that massive usage of the processor power for precompiling of JavaScript’s and optimizing Web pages - eat batteries of mobile phones - therefore Chrome browser is really good only for systems plugged in power outlet. Other disturbing discovery is how Android 4.0.x handle Network Communications - especially Wi-Fi connections - current driver is so energy inefficient that it eats battery equal to powering of the second Screen.
All i know is if ICS does not get rid of the buggy glitchy tablet I'm never owning an android device again. I gave it a shot for flash and its flexibility with outputs etc but if it is slow in the first place why does it matter? Who cares if it has a 1 GHz processor- its slow when you get down to it along with other issues. My iphone is much faster than this and the apple store are coming out with apps where you may not need flash ( in my instance watching abc shows on the tablet-for lenovo i would go online and go that route, now apple has an abc app where you can watch episodes from there). I laugh when I see 'Tegra 3 1.7 GHz' etc.it does not matter how fast the processor is, it all has to do with what is running in the background- it will most likely still be buggy and slow and make me wait or force close every time. Apple did it right and that is why it is so popular, Android has not and that is why they are losing popularity and lose first time customers fairly fast.
